Rt Revd Sandy Millar

The Rt. Rev’d John Alexander Kirkpatrick (Sandy) Millar practised for 10 years as a barrister before being ordained into the Church of England in 1976. He joined the staff of Holy Trinity Brompton as curate in 1976, becoming Vicar in 1985. He oversaw the growth of Holy Trinity Brompton to the largest church in the Church of England and its ‘church planting’ initiative into church buildings in other parts of London on the verge of extinction.

He was responsible for overseeing the growth of the Alpha course from a small local parish resource to one used by thousands of churches around the world.

He was installed as a Prebendary of St. Paul’s Cathedral in 1997. After 20 years as Vicar of HTB,he stood down in July 2005 and became Vicar of St. Mark Tollington Park in a deprived part of London. Sandy is still active as a licensed Honorary Assistant Bishop in both the Diocese of London and in the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich
