Comedian Mark Ritchie shares the funny side of life – and God’s gift

On Monday 5th December, about eighty people enjoyed our special Christmas Outreach dinner in the Elizabeth Suite at Hampton Manor. The  delicious three-course meal left no-one in any doubt why the restaurant team at Hampton Manor have recently been awarded a Michelin Star.

Our after-dinner speaker, Mark Ritchie, entertained us to a hilarious running commentary on the funny side of everyday life. Having delighted audiences with his comedy show “For the Love of God” at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2015 (see photo), Mark had us in stitches with his amusing tales of family life.

By telling us about the little girl who didn’t want the present given to her by her parents, Mark quietly reminded us that this is what happened when God gave his only son Jesus as a gift – rejected by the very people he came to save. Yet God still loves us, and – like another youngster who misbehaved en route to meeting her Daddy – our Father God still flings his arms around us, however mucky our lives may seem!
