Apples of Silver

Rev Val Turner was speaking at South Hereford Filling Station on Thursday 19th April. Val is an artist, retreat leader, spiritual director, teacher and retired vicar (see applesofsilver.weebly.com). After a wonderful worship time led by Keith and John from Putson Baptist church, Val shared from Luke 5:1-11 and encouraged us to look “to the real and certain hope we have in Jesus” Hebrews 6:19

She reminded us that when Simon Peter saw who Jesus really was and the mess in his own life, “Jesus didn’t rub it in because He’d rubbed it out, He’d forgiven Simon Peter  and told him who he would be.” So true for us all! We’re called to follow Jesus and He will show us who we really are. Val encouraged us to “push out into deeper water” and used the mnemonic TOES. T for Transformation… allow the Holy Spirit to work in us and change us. O for Observe… see what’s there, God will use very part of our lives for His purposes, E for Engage… invite the Holy Spirit into what we’ve observed and S for Surrender… “not by might, not by power but by my Spirit, says the Lord Almighty.” Zechariah 4:6

Our next meeting is on Thursday 17th May 7:30 pm when Steve Sully from Challenge Community Church, Hereford will be speaking.
