Tuesday 13th November

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday 13th.  John Davies will be leading the worship.  Jamie Hay,  recently retired from the Royal Navy, will speak about “War and Peace”

Jamie grew up in the North East of Scotland and ran away to sea aged 17 crewing a sailing yacht in the Mediterranean.  After completing an Engineering Degree he joined the Royal Navy for 5 years which turned out to be 34!  “Retiring” from the RN last year he now works as an Engineering Consultant based in Bath. Jamie grew up in a churchgoing family and found his own faith as a teenager – but subsequently lost interest when at University.  He returned to faith through an Alpha Course in 1993 in his village church where he discovered the importance and impact of the third part of “The Trinity” – a significance he had failed to realise before. Living out the Christian faith in the Royal Navy has been both challenging and exciting. He and his family gained strong support from the Armed Forces Christian Union www.afcu.org.uk (of which he is currently President).   Remembering 100 years since the First World War armistice, Jamie will reflect on War and Peace – christian understanding of warfare and praying for peace.
